Mattie + New Mexico = True Love Forever

Thursday. Today was a sad day for me,we had to leave New Mexico. Even the kids are sold on this place. It was just so nice to be there. Some parts I liked better than others, but overall I just loved it. Today we went to Trader Joe's. I miss that place.
I took this photo about a half an hour before we hit Colorado. Looking back on it I was excited to see that I caught one of the wild horses. This was about the same time that I realized I wasn't seeing any cactus. I guess I just missed my chance to dig some up and bring them home. Pete could not hide the look of relief I caught on his face.
I am still loving these seemingly abandoned places. I secretly (guess not now) would like to just move on in and fix one up. Maybe I could snag a tandem place for my mom. I really love the desert.
The kids are starting to look like this more often. I think that a week with Pete and I is beginning to wear on them. It was hard to get into Colorado today. It just doesn't feel as exciting as New Mexico. Definitely not my favorite part so far. Tomorrow we are heading to Mesa Verde though and I am betting that it will be pretty amazing.

I would also like to add that I really, really appreciate Pete. He works really hard to enable us to take these amazing trips and show us new places. He is always just as excited for us to see something new as we are. He always drives and rarely complains. We have both had pretty great parents that took us on family vacations that we recall fondly. It makes me so happy that my kids will someday do the same. We are lucky and I just adore him.

Good for you and Pete for making family vacations happen! And good for you for documenting. The blah faces photo is cracking me up!

I love the blank stares pic! I see that from my teens, and not near the end of a road trip... Really enjoying "following" you on your vacation!
